Pakistan Refinery Ltd (PRL) is set to import its inaugural shipment of Nigerian Bonny Light crude from Vitol in September, as reported by Reuters.
The shipment, consisting of 500,000 barrels of light-sweet crude, is scheduled to load later this month and is anticipated to reach Karachi by the end of September.
This transaction signifies Pakistan’s first documented acquisition of Bonny Light, which is esteemed for its high yields of gasoline and diesel.
Pakistani refiners, similar to their counterparts in Asia, have recently begun exploring alternatives such as US West Texas Intermediate and Kazakh CPC Blend due to the rising prices of Middle Eastern oil.
The last instance of Pakistan importing Nigerian crude dates back to 2014, when it acquired Yoho crude, according to data from Kpler.
